Hello, Alexia! Thank you very much for joining us today. First things first, could you tell me when you discovered your passion for music?
Alexia: Hi, thank you for having me! Well, I think I started singing before I was able to talk, haha. That’s what I’ve been told by my family. So, I guess I discovered my passion when I was not even aware I did. My love for music stayed the same ever since then.
What three words would you say best describe your music as a whole?
Alexia: Emotion, Passion, Vulnerability.
In your opinion, what separates you the most from other artists out there?
Alexia: I think every artist is unique in their own way and so am I. We all come from different
backgrounds, have different personalities, vision and values so the way we feel and perceive
things are also different. These are all reflected in our art and the way we deliver it which makes it unique. In terms of personality I can be a very emotional introvert but once I feel comfortable, I turn into the most crazy, friendly and funny person! In terms of my art, I find inspiration in everything at any time. I love to combine elements of various genres, play with my vocal techniques, test and explore unusual sounds, add lots of harmonies and ad libs and adapt the whole sound in accordance to the vibe I have in the moment I’m writing the tune. My feelings are projected in every song of mine through lyrics, vocal delivery, instruments and the way they are processed. Every music video of mine also reveals a part of me and who I am.
Tell me about your recent music release titled, “Lucid Dreams”.. what is something very special about it?
Alexia: The idea behind it came from a strong desire to be with someone that was no longer in my life. The only way we could still be together was in my dreams. My only wish was to fall
asleep and escape from reality. Through lucid dreaming I had control of everything that was
happening, finally living in my ideal world. Detuned bells were used to create a dreamy
atmosphere. They were meant to replicate the sound of a bed carousel music box.
You have some really great songs on Spotify! I’d like to know, do you have a favorite song you’ve released thus far? Why is it your favorite?
Alexia: I’d like to let people pick their favorite. Since all of them mean a lot to me, it’s really hard to choose one.
What is your interpretation of being an artist? What does it mean to you?
Alexia: Being an independent artist is not easy. There’s a lot of hard work behind every project but the satisfaction after accomplishing it is wonderful. I am very dedicated and passionate when it comes to my music. I frequently spend hours, days, nights working on my projects without even realizing how tired I am. This is how much music motivates me. It’s about that feeling at the end when you’ve got that song done and you can finally share it with everyone. Despite the workload, being an independent artist allows me to freely express myself and have 100% contribution in the decision making which is the best thing about it.
Most artists say that through their art they learn more about themselves, heal injuries… in what ways has music helped you?
Alexia: To me it’s like going to therapy. You know, there are times when people need to talk to
someone about the way they feel. Sharing and verbalizing our feelings help us release that
tension and clear up things in our heads. Well, because I can hardly open up and talk about my emotions, I put them all in my songs. Singing is the way I verbalize my thoughts. Releasing the tune is the way I share them and finally manage to let go.
How do you want your music to help or affect other people?
Alexia: The best feeling is when people can relate to my music, whether it’s about the message or sound. I love when they tell me “I’m vibing with this tune” or “it’s exactly what I needed”. I honestly can’t ask for more. I just hope my songs will find their way to the people that need to hear them. As long as they inspire and have a positive impact, I am the happiest.
Who are some other notable artists that influence your sound and style the most?
Alexia: Britney Spears and Michael Jackson have been my biggest inspirations ever since I was a little kid. Ariana Grande is another artist that has left a mark on my style along with Rihanna, Drake and The Weekend. My music is also influenced by Romanian folklore and classical music.
What is the next “big thing” the world can expect from you?
Alexia: Lots of new songs of different genres are on the way to be released. I know I’ve been
quiet lately but once I’m done with university this year, you can expect anything from me!
