Emerging rap artist, Big Beanie, releases new single "Oso Drippy"

Big Beanie is an emerging rap artist based in the Baltimore, Maryland. The second oldest of four children on his mother's side, he is the only boy - and Big Beanie is already reaching for the stars. Growing up, the rappers that inspired him the most were notable figures such as Busta Rhymes, Soulja Slim, Boosie Badazz, Mystikal, DMX - to name a few. Big Beanie started his journey into rap music at an early age, with his brother Frost Baby, a cracked iPhone, and a voice recording app. On January 10th, the artist lost two of his best friends to gun violence, which led Big Beanie to create his label after their brand name, The Motion Man Committee - in honor of his friends before they tragically passed away.

Big Beanie uses his music to give people a look into what the artist has seen in his life and how he coped with the struggles he faced. His songs, "All The Time", "Having My Way", and "Been Major", shine a light of some of his struggles with people doubting him, and not having his best friends with him anymore.

Most recently, he released his track, "Oso Drippy" - which is out now on all digital streaming platforms! Follow Big Beanie on his social media platforms to stay updated on news and upcoming music releases.

INTERVIEW

Hello, Big Beanie! Thank you for joining us today. I’d love to know, when did you first discover your passion for music?

Big Beanie: I always loved music you can ask my mother. She always tells the story on how I was listening to a Twista song can’t remember the name. She was amazed because I would go to the speaker and out of all the instruments I singled out the violin.

What three words would you say best summarize your musical style?

Big Beanie: DMX, Mystikal, and Busta Rhymes being my favorite rapper I have a aggressive rhyme pattern. My fans call it fight music. Mixture of Crunk, Dirty South, and Aggressive Rap. Then I adopt the story telling abilities of my other two favorite rappers Boosie and Soulja slim to all culminate into my own unique style.

Tell me about your most recent music release titled, "Oso Drippy".. what was the inspiration behind writing it?

Big Beanie: "Oso Drippy" was a fun track really no inspiration. I came up in this rap game with one of the only people I look up to and that’s my Big Brother Frost Baby. We sat down listened to the beat and created the song.

What is the next “big thing” the world can expect from you?

Big Beanie: The next big thing the world can expect from me is my EP "Mommy’s Dearest". Five unique tracks opening up with a special intro just for my mother. Highlighting the ups and downs I struggle with, with mental health. Highlighting the rough up bringing me getting suspended from school, arrested, just the things I’ve grown out of. My mother never gave up on me this strictly for her.

Who would you say is your number one musical influence?

Big Beanie: My number one musical influence is things I seen in my upbringing and not knowing that it wasn’t normal. The things I was used to I shouldn’t have been use to. I watched my mom come from literally the bottom now me and my sisters are comfortable my plan is to keep them comfortable.

What is your songwriting process?

Big Beanie: I don’t write I just go in and have fun and tell the truth. Sometimes I may be in a goofy party fun mood like on my song “Up Down” sometimes I want to make a riotous song as you can hear in “Here I Go” and sometimes I just go in and flow like my song “Do What I Want”.

What is your interpretation of being an artist? What does it mean to you?

Big Beanie: I never really thought about it I just like making music. I just make it and hope I can help that party be lit, help whatever person chase their dreams music is a personal thing and you connect sometimes I just want to be remembered like a Boosie got a song for everything a party, your mother, happy , sad just a great catalog.

Most artists say that through their art they learn more about themselves, heal injuries… in what ways has music helped you?

Big Beanie: My music opened a side of me I didn’t know I had it made it easier talking about problems. It made it easier to feel hey I feel like crying I make a sad song, hey I feel like fighting I’ll make a fight song. All that good stuff.

How would you like your music to help other people?

Big Beanie: I want to show them that chasing your dreams should be your only goal. I didn’t have no support at one point until I started branching out. I want people to listen to my music and be like damn... he stayed true to himself, and it got him to his goal and his dream.

You have some great songs on Spotify! I’d like to know, do you have a favorite song that you’ve released thus far?

Big Beanie: My favorite song I made is between "Do What I Want" and "Up Down". Both of them were just fun songs we made on the fly and had fun while doing it.

What would your idyllic life as an artist look like?

Big Beanie: My ideal life as a artist is just to be comfortable I don’t have to be a millionaire or a Jay z type artist, I just want to have fun with my day 1’s a nice fine woman and my family. I don’t need the flashiness. Wealth is within the spirit.

In your opinion, what about your sound and style sets you apart from other artists in your genre?

Big Beanie: My sound sets me apart from other artists because you cannot coin where I’m from you listen to Baltimore artists I sound nothing like them. You listen to Atlanta artist I sound nothing like them. I only sound like me.

Where will you be performing next?

Big Beanie: No performances hopefully some in the future.
